Shipping a gun FOR you:
Sometimes you will sell a gun without needing my involvement as an FFL. For example, if you need to ship a gun to a specialty gunsmith elsewhere in the country or need to ship to a gun refinisher for re-bluing (I know a good one). For you to ship a long gun isn't an issue, but to ship a handgun requires you to ship OVERNIGHT. Yikes, that's expensive. I can ship a handgun via USPS as an FFL. I fill out a special form and drop it in the mail. I charge $30 if you package everything up first + the actual shipping cost. The reason it's that much is because I legally have to run the gun through the books as if it were a gun for sale. Usually a flat rate Priority Mail box is the cheapest. Email me first though, don't just show up with a sealed package!
Women Shooters:
Women tend to have different needs and expectations when it comes to shooting and I'm fortunate that I have my wife and other women around who love to shoot and know how to be safe. If you are a woman who already shoots, then it's unlikely you need assistance. But if you are new shooter and you are wondering about a personal defense weapon for concealed carry, or you are interested in something for home protection, you can be assured you won't be patronized. I'm more than happy to help you with safety instruction and advice on a gun. Nothing irks me more than the way some "testosterone-laden" gun stores treat people in general, let alone a woman that walks in looking for help and advice. If you want to talk with other women who have been in shooting for a while, or even some that have just started out, I can put you in touch with some good friends and they'll steer you right as well.
Young Shooters:
Getting started shooting as a young person will require an adult to take on the responsibility of teaching the young person how to handle firearms responsibly and safely. I'm more than happy to help with this in any way possible. As a professional educator for 30 years, I spend a lot of time with young adults and the more they know about shooting and safety, the better. Young people are excited about the shooting sports and often the only thing holding them back is cost. Well, there are several options to get started at low cost! Whether a single shot 22 for a very young shooter or a Ruger 10/22 in a variety of models, there are lots of options and many at reasonable prices. Let me know if you have an up and coming new shooter and we'll figure out what they need to get started!
